The production process for virtual reality artwork requires a perfect synergy of collaboration between artists and programmers to make the digital world tangible.

Following the brief provided by client, the project enters into different phases when it kicks off. Artists prepare the physical object in a digital space through 3D modeling, whilst programmers would plan, determine and the physics and interactions required of the model.



Modeling artists produce the models using Maya and Blender, paying close attention to the geometry in terms of keeping it optimal for virtual reality use. Depending on the complexity of the geometry as well the needs of the client, a high-poly model will be produced, with the details baked down onto a low-poly version to get the optimal display for what we needed. Once approved, the model needs to be UV-Unwrapped which involves assigning the object texture coordinates and unfolding a map, which wraps back around object seamlessly when assembled with the textures.

Once it has been UV-unwrapped, texture artists begins the process of bringing the object to life through applying physically based rendered texturing(Also knows as PBR)

Handing over the final component to the developer department is a critical part of the process where art and code is combined in the Unity Engine.
